Is DEXA or DXA safe?

DXA uses low-dose radiation to separate fat from lean tissue and bone. It is considered the Gold Standard of Body Composition. It is traditionally known for bone densitometry. However, we use it for Body Composition. You receive about the same levels of radiation as you would by eating 4 bananas or taking a cross country flight.. With that being said, pregnant women or those expecting to get pregnant cannot take a DXA scan.

What does DEXA stand for?

DEXA stands for dual energy x-ray absorptiometry. DXA or DEXA both stand for the same medical-grade equipment.

COVID-19 Update & Our Cleaning Protocols

Currently, we do not require masks. We follow state & Johnson County Kansas recommendations and will update as the environment changes.

If you feel sick or are experiencing symptoms, please stay home. Notify us immediately to reschedule your appointment. If we don't hear from you, No Show fees may apply at $25 per booked test.

Cleaning & Appointments:

Based on manufacturer's recommended procedures for our equipment, tools, & accessories, we clean, sterilize, & disinfect between each appointment as well as throughout the day.

We also space out each appointment to allow time for cleaning & to avoid waiting in our lobby.

We also have several hand sanitizer stations.

We work with 1 client at a time (or couples podding together).

What to expect when booking?

  • A credit card is required to hold the appointment.
  • In most cases, your card is not charged until after your appointment. This allows you to change your service, change your credit card, or make other additions at the time of your appointment.
  • If you pre-purchased a special, sale, promotion, special offer, or 3rd party purchase, you were already charged, and you should have a receipt of that transaction. Any unused pre-purchased services remain on your account until you use them within the specified period of that purchase, or they expire according to the terms & conditions and rules of that purchase. See the sale, invoice, or receipt for the details of that pre-purchase or check your Mindbody account.
  • Any promo codes are applied at the time of sale after services are performed.
  • We DO charge NO SHOW fees of $25/test. We hope you understand that we are holding an appointment for you. If you do not show up, we miss the opportunity to rebook that time.
  • Each service is a 30 minute appointment. Plan for 90 minutes if you book a DXA, VO2, and RMR on the same day.
  • Online cancellations close 24 hours prior to the appointment. You must call to cancel after the 24 hours has lapsed. We are happy to reschedule it for you.
  • Call us with any additional questions.

What does a high VO2 Max mean?

It means you can use a lot of oxygen to produce energy leading to an increase in aerobic work you can perform before wearing out.

Why do you keep talking about a Baseline?

Because you need to compare your future self to your present self.

Future self will be extremely impressed with how far you have come!

What happens when my tests are done?

We provide you with your own data in a printed report format. The DXA is 4-5 pages, RMR is 1 page, and VO2 Max is 1 page. Styku scans are emailed directly to you as a PDF link that expires after 3 months.

You choose whether to work with a trusted advisor or do it on your own.

If you are seeking to work with a nutritionist, dietician, or trainer, we have some options for you.

If you are a nutritionist, dietician, or trainer, and you'd like to work with us, give us a call!
